Erectile Dysfunction

Erectile Dysfunction is defined as the inability to reach and maintain an adequate erection that allows a satisfactory sexual relation. In other words, it is when the stiffness of the erection is not enough to allow penetration or when that stiffness is not maintained until the end of the sexual relation.

Although it is a benign situation, erectile dysfunction can affect physical and psychosocial health and it has a strong impact in the quality of life of men suffering from this condition, and in the couple's life. Studies prove that erectile dysfunction can be a premature sign of peripheral vascular disease or coronary disease, so this condition cannot be seen solely as a question of quality of life, but also as a potential warning for cardiovascular diseases.

Fortunately, there are several effective solutions for treating erectile dysfunction.

Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH)

Even though BPH is not, per se, a sexual dysfunction, this disorder can impact a healthy sexual life.

It is a disease characterized by the increase on the size of the prostate. It seems to be related to aging, as it has greater incidence in men over 40 years old. Although it is not a life-threatening disease, it affects quality of life, as it interferes in daily activities, in sleep or in the couple’s sexual life.

The treatment encompasses the relief of symptoms and the delay of disease progression. The choice of the treatment should be made between the doctor and the patient together and adapted to the patient’s complains.

Always consult your doctor.
